Support for Social Projects in Northern Madagascar
«Verein Nihaona» is a charitable Swiss non-profit organization based in Basel, which is actively and voluntarily committed to supporting projects in northern Madagascar. Our focus is on improving medical care and educational opportunities in the Region of Diana.
Our work focuses on «MadaClinics», a Malagasy NGO that runs a clinic and a school in the remote village of Maventibao. «MadaClinics» is financed entirely from donations and relies on help from abroad.
Our Goal
We have set ourselves the goal of making sustainable changes in the area of health and education in Madagascar.
The medical situation in Madagascar is extremely precarious. Many diseases are treated too late, inadequately or not at all due to a shortage of resources. A shortage of doctors, nursing staff, hospitals and medical equipment exacerbates these challenges. For this reason, we are committed to improve medical care.
At the same time, we consider education to be a fundamental right that everyone is entitled to. School education in particular offers children the opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty and build a more promising future.
Our mission is to ensure better access to these fundamental rights in northern Madagascar. We attach great importance to transparency and the involvement of the local population in order to develop sustainable solutions.
Our current project: A new school building for Maventibao
We want to build a new school building in Maventibao to cope with rising student numbers, growing educational requirements, and frequent natural disasters. Two new classrooms, a multimedia room, a staff room, and sanitary facilities are to be built, thereby creating better conditions for education and improved working conditions for the teachers.
