MadaClinics

The Clinic

The project «MadaClinics» runs a clinic in the remote village of Maventibao in the north of Madagascar. Between 15 and 40 patients are treated in the clinic every day. Without «MadaClinics», patients would first have to walk 1.5 hours to the nearest road and then travel over three hours by bus to the nearest hospital. Many patients therefore come to the clinic from far away and have to walk up to 14 kilometers. Twice a week, the nurses also visit other villages to treat patients there.

Medical treatment at the clinic is free of charge for everyone and, where possible, «MadaClinics» will also provide treatment that has to be carried out in a larger hospital.

The School

More than 100 children aged between four and 15 are currently being taught by over ten teachers at the «MadaClinics» school. The children come from Maventibao and the surrounding villages. However, there are also children who have to walk up to ten kilometers to get to school. Although school is actually free in Madagascar, it is not possible for many children to attend state schools as they are often too far away. They also have to buy their own school materials and uniforms, which many families cannot afford.

School attendance at «MadaClinics» and school materials are free of charge and a school uniform is not required. This allows all children in the region to attend school.
