Duration of Voluntary Service
At least two weeks.
Costs:
250 US dollars per week for board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and accommodation (own hut in the village).
If you are in educational or medical training, the amount is reduced to 200 US dollars.
If you have completed one of the above qualifications, the amount is reduced to 150 US dollars.
Getting There
Flight to Antananarivo: then either by domestic flight or Bus / Taxi Brousse (24 hours) to Diego and from there by Taxi Brousse to Ambondromifehy, followed by a 1.5 hour walk to Maventibao
Flight to the island of Nosy Be: then by boat to the mainland and from there by Taxi Brousse to Ambondromifehy (5 hours), then 1.5 hours on foot to Maventibao
What requirements do you need to meet?
Volunteer placements can be completed both in the clinic and in the school. Knowledge of French and/or English is required in order to communicate with the staff on site. No other prior knowledge is required, but people with a medical and/or educational background are of course very welcome. Your tasks on site will be adapted to your knowledge. In addition to everyday school and clinic work, there are also other tasks to complete in Maventibao. For example, establishing access to running water or guaranteeing a stable power supply.
