Erinnert ihr euch noch an das Solarprojekt? Im Herbst haben wir begonnen, mittels einem Fundraising Geld zu sammeln, um für «MadaClinics» in Maventibao eine Solaranlage zu bauen und damit eine stabile Stromversorgung für die Klinik und die Schule herzustellen.
Zeitgleich haben wir auch einen Antrag an die Entwicklungszusammenarbeit des Kantons Basel-Stadt gestellt. Für Projekte der ausländischen Entwicklungszusammenarbeit stellt der Kanton Basel-Stadt jährlich zwei Millionen Franken bereit. Einmal im Jahr wird der Kuchen dann verteilt – und das war letzte Woche so weit: Der Verein Nihaona erhält die beantragten 11’000 Franken für den Bau einer Solaranlage in Maventibao.
Für unser Projekt bedeutet das einen grossen Schritt nach vorne. Ende April werden wir euch verraten können, was der Entscheid der Regierung konkret für das Projekt bedeutet und wie es nun weitergeht (oder du bist Mitglied des Vereins uns kommst an die GV am 28.4, dort erfährst du es auch bereits).

The government of Basel-Stadt approves 11,000 francs for the solar project.
Do you remember the solar project? In the fall, we started to raise money through a fundraising campaign to build a solar system for “MadaClinics” in Maventibao and establish a stable power supply for the clinic and school.
At the same time, we also submitted an application to the development cooperation department of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. The canton of Basel-Stadt provides two million Swiss francs a year for development cooperation projects abroad. Once a year, the money is distributed – and that’s what happened last week: Verein Nihaona received the requested 11,000 francs for the construction of a solar plant in Maventibao.
This is a big step forward for our project. By the end of April, we will be able to tell you what the government’s decision means in specific terms for the project and what happens next (or if you are a member of the association and come to the AGM on April 28, you will find out there).
